My name is Alejandro Richardson and I am a proud lifelong resident of Minneapolis where I currently own a home and I am running for Mayor with a bold vision and a deep-rooted commitment to the people of his city.
I am a rank-and-file Union carpenter and the elected Vice President of Local 68 representing ~2,500 members throughout the twin cities metro.
I believe that I bring the perspective necessary to tackle the challenges facing Minneapolis, and the compassionate understanding to find solutions that work for all residents of our great city.
Our city officials have failed to provide ample opportunity for their constituents to find prosperous and meaningful work, and an environment in which families can thrive
If you’ve ever wondered why our elected officials continue to fail us with false promises and misguided leadership look no further than this troubling statistic;
Out of over 7,000 legislators in the U.S., less than 200 of them are considered to be working class. If we want real change it starts with electing a different breed of public official, one who is truly of the people, not simply purporting to represent them.
I believe Minneapolis, my lifelong home, deserves a candidate for Mayor who can bridge the gaps in our communities, advocate fiercely for the hard working middle class, and negotiate the best possible outcomes for all its residents. For too long politicians have been elected that never have to live with the consequences of their decisions, and are often bought and sold before they ever enter office. For that reason I am running my campaign not seeking any financial contributions or endorsements, not even from my own labor union, because I am committed to holding myself accountable to one group above all else, the residents of our great city. I believe in you Minneapolis, and you can believe in me.
